    Guess the game one lineup...

What you think it WILL be AND what you think it SHOULD be. Also, for the purposes of this, let's assume LUDWICK will be HEALTHY. Have at it:

    WILL:
    Phillips 4
    Cozart 6
    Votto 3
    Ludwick 7
    Bruce 9
    Rolen 5
    Heisey 8
    Hanigan 2
    Cueto 1

There's a chance Frazier's at 3rd I guess, but we all know Dusty. Also, Stubbs might be in CF, because again, Dusty.

    SHOULD:
    Phillips 4
    Cozart 6
    Votto 3
    Ludwick 7
    Frazier 5
    Bruce 9
    Heisey 8
    Hanigan 2
    Cueto 1

I'll take Frazier, and bat him 5th at that. Also, a very good argument could be (and is) made for Latos in G1, but that's not really what this thread is about, so we'll go with Cueto since it'll be him anyway.

I'm guessing its Stubbs if its SF because of the OF territory, which is probably the right call considering the norm of low scoring games in that park.

I'm not sure why you would bat Frazier ahead of Bruce against a RH starter?

If Heisey is playing he should bat 2nd, Cozart 7th.

    Well....

Phillips is hitting .181/.254/.319 in the 17 games since moving back to leadoff. It's the #Reds' version of Black Hole for hitters.

    WILL be:
    Phillips 4
    Cozart 6
    Votto 3
    Ludwick 7
    Bruce 9
    Rolen 5
    Stubbs 8
    Hanigan 2
    Cueto 1

SHOULD be (assuming RH pitcher like Matt Cain):

    Frazier 5
    Votto 3
    Ludwick 7
    Bruce 9
    Phillips 4
    Hanigan 2
    Cozart 6
    Heisey 8

Re: Guess the game one lineup...

I'll stand corrected on Phillips but Frazier has struckout 8 times in the last three games.Phillips looks tired though.

    Cozart
    Stubbs
    Votto
    Phillips
    Bruce
    Ludwick
    Rolen
    Hannigan
    Cueto

Worked most of the year so maybe Dusty will be Dusty and do it again if Phillips does continue to slump.

It's interesting that you would take a team that may well lead the majors in wins and the first thing you do when you reach the playoffs is change every player's normal hitting spot.

Nice way to signal to your players that you are in full panic mode.

    Panic mode? No. LOL

That is the lineup I would have been using for a long time now. You know, actually trying to get the most at-bats for the best hitters and putting the worst hitters at the bottom where they will have fewer opportunities to make outs.

Just so you know, the Reds haven't been scoring many runs lately. Maybe a smarter batting order would give them a little bit of a boost?
