Apparently there was no press conference involved here. Anyone remember a manager being fired that wasn't open to a press conference?

Hal Steinbrenner has called a press conference to say, "no."

Bobby Valentine in Cincinnati? It's possible, according to one Boston Globe columnist:

    3. Bobby Valentine, manager, Red Sox — If the Sox let him go, his managerial career may not be over. Jeffrey Loria had him pretty much hired in Miami before he was pressured to hire a Latin American manager; now Loria is considering replacing Ozzie Guillen. Valentine is also close to Reds owner Bob Castellini, who is at the end of a contract with Dusty Baker.

    Wow! What a surprise.

If the Reds hired Valentine it woud destroy every ounce of crediblity that Castellini and Jocketty have built. I highly doubt Valentine's hiring would ever happen in Cincinnati.

Valentine is toxic right now. Can't see any contending team offering him a job.

I always found this guy a joke. I laughed at the time the Red Sox hired him and I laugh again today. The Sox deserve every horrible thing that comes to them.

    Hey, stop being a meanie!

But, yeah, they sure did ask for what they got.
