Difference this time though is that they are slashing payroll after a terrible year as opposed to a World Series championship year. That outta go over real well with the 9 people in Miami who care....

Actually they did. 2.22 million vs. 1.52 million in 2011

Good time to contract both Florida teams. Neither draw well at all. When they contract the Reds can have Stanton and Price. Everyone else can fight over the rest.
Reds Fan Since 1971
Somewhere between the uniforms, the gaudy flying swordfish thing, the aquarium, the shoddy attempt at "going big" this year, and now this left me unable to take this team seriously.
The Reds could really learn from them
Chapman, Corcino for Stanton.
I know Stanton is still cheap, but the Marlins need more Cubans on their team.
I still like the gaudy flying swordfish thing and the aquarium.
"Reality tells us there are no guarantees. Except that some day Jon Lester will be on that list of 100-game winners." - Peter Gammons
Outside of Reyes, do they have any higher price guys that the Reds would want?
Josh Johnson, sure, but I don't see the need. Everyone else is either cheap, a FA or bad or just entering arbitration.
The Reds seem to be putting more mentions of Madson out there. Me thinks something is afoot. Nearly everyone attached to the Reds FO have said something recently about bringing Madson back next year. Mostly off the cuff throw away lines, but enough to make me think, that there may be a deal on the table to bring him back in 2013.
Does your number include Heisey, Stubbs, and Bray? Those guys are going to have a hard time justifying their arbitration salaries.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.
Reds are at $87M right now. New national TV money should add over $10M. Add in increase in attendance and playoff money, and I could see the Reds payroll to over $100M next season.
That said, don't see any high priced Marlins whose contract is worth taking on.
