Funny that the 2 teams that won the "easy" division in their league are the 2 playing for the World Series. Better than 2 Wild Card teams.
Is it "next season" yet?
The Giants are playing some interesting ball this postseason. Hard to say they don't deserve to be in the World Series after their crazy comebacks.
I think this was bound to happen. Cain had been underperforming his norms and Lohse had been overperforming his. It came at the perfect time for those who aren't big fans of the Cards.
indeed.
I take no misfortune in the Cards collapse, but am glad to not see them get lucky and get all the breaks, as they seem to do from our point of view. However, our point of view around here is not always unbiased, is it?
I'm blown away by what the Giants just did. They won three games in a row, twice, against very good teams, when they had to. That's one for the ages right there.
sorry we're boring
Now it's time to feed the Giants to the Tigers.
He's also a little old to think a soul patch still looks cool.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
I sent a note to my wife's family on Facebook congratulating the Cardinals, but noted that I was not disappointed in the outcome; that would have been too bitter a pill to swallow if the Cards had gone to the World Series.
I think this hit by Hunter Pence nails the vagaries of baseball. When I read this morning that the bat hit the ball three times, I couldn't imagine what that looked like. MLB's replay of it shows it in super slow motion, but they also have this GIF up that shows it too. It certainly explains Kozma's inital reaction to his right and then, of course, it's just by him.
I suspect the Redbirds understand what the Reds went through. San Francisco has some considerable karma going for them this year. If the Tigers go up three games, they best sleep with one eye open.

What the heck is that Star Warsish thingy that Joe Buck is standing on, on the field during the pre-game on Fox. So bizarre

You wouldn't know the Giants have played 6 elimination games to reach this point-they look like a team of destiny right now. All that rest doesn't seem to have done the Tigers much good tonight.
Looking remarkably similar to the Red Sox - Rockies series in '07. Seems that hitters in a groove might be a better thing than rested starters.
Still just game 1, of course, but more so than who wins/who loses I'm interested in seeing how rest vs. playing comes out again.
