Tense Game 2 of the World Series, scoreless, bottom seven.

Giants with a single and a walk. No outs.

Blanco to bunt, but patient. 3-1 count. Bunt stays fair, bases loaded.

Giants are lucky, but they are fundamentally very sound. Big threat now.

Double play ball, but Giants score to take the lead.

The Giants have the proverbial Golden Horseshoe up their rear. It's preordained apparently. A base hit off the pitcher's head? A sacrifice bunt that kicks left and dies? Have mercy.

Not to mention in Game one the ground ball that hits 3rd base and kicks into LF for a double that started a 3 run rally. Things can change in a hurry as we all found out. But the Giants do look like a team of destiny.

Get to the playoffs often enough and one year the Reds will be Destiny's team.

I don't think the Giants have been lucky so far in the WS, I think they've had excellent pitching that has prevented the Tigers from having a real chance to win.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

There's no question that the Giants stole the Card's lucky charms at some point in the LCS, but they are also playing near-perfect baseball.

I mentioned the Charlie-Foxtrot that is often the 1-6-3 DP. Giants snapped one off beautifully. A 2-0 win where you score on a DP and sac-fly, with a drag bunt and a SB thrown in the mix? Textbook.

Contrast that with Detroit's gaggle of buffet cruisers. They can rake, no question. But even the best bats go cold some times.

The Giants DH is their backup catcher?

Yeah. I would have figured Aubrey Huff for that job.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Does it matter? They've won every game Barry Zito has pitched, he'll probably be star of the game.

Sure, it's just not something you see very often.

If he were healthy this season, Victor Martinez would have been the Tigers DH.

Okay, it's not something you see very often unless the backup catcher happens to be a really good hitter like Victor Martinez.

The NL rarely has a bench player that is a true dh because they construct their bench with different priorities and needs. One of the exceptions was Driessen in '76, just another example of how loaded that squad was.
