Maybe Chris Carpenter can explain to me what just happened, because I'm sure his son would like to know too...

I hate Yadier Molina. Drop the fist pump, you just got gifted a critical out, punk.

Have a one game wildcard playoff, they said.

It would be fun, they said.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

But rules that were not applied correctly are. Herein lies a grey area.

To go 1 step further, obviously we'll never know how it would have played out, but imagine if there was replay for this to overturn it? It was so obvious to everyone. I think we all want to see the game called right, regardless of the results.

Problem is, this is not judging ball/strike, fair/foul, safe/out.

    This is judging "ordinary effort."

Was that an infield fly too?

I understand that, and it would be a huge change for MLB, but if the NBA can adopt huge changes to its game, so can MLB.

And it wouldn't hurt to fire that ump as well.

    Exactly right.

Yeah, I don't understand after playing 162 games, a 1 game playoff decides it all.

But the other side of the coin is that the ump has to, per the rulebook, make the call in due time. Holbrook did NOT make that call quick enough. Kozma gave up on the ball at the same time or before the hand was raised.

The rule was not correctly applied to the situation. Effort be damned.
