Just so you know, MLB Network has been all over the Holiday slide in tonight's game. They didn't go as far as saying Holiday is a dirty player, but made it clear what he did was wrong.
I hope at some point soon you guys would quit talking about the past, which no one will concede on, and speak of the games being played or to be played.
I love to talk baseball but this is awful.
Scutaro made the trip to St Louis, but with the muscle strain in his left hip they aren't sure he will be able to play game 3. Scutaro hit .339 in the second half witch was second to Posey in the NL and had drove in 50 runs which was 9th in the league during the second half. Losing that type of production from 2B is a series changer, you just can't be replaced it unless you can get your hands on a .236 career minor league hitter for the Cards like a Kozma.
On the Cards side if they get to the WS Berkman is wanting to come back and DH and Jake Westbrook may be activated to take Lynn's spot in the rotation.
Does anyone else question the decision to let Verlander potentially pitch a complete game? He's at 115 pitches in the 8th based on Gameday.....
I wouldn't have sent him back out for the 9th, there is limited reward to it. If he does good its fine and all but you're still adding more high leverage stress to a guy with tons of innings, if he does slightly bad you are going to go get him anyway and your next guy into a harder spot. Verlander's great but when guys get up to 120's they aren't going to be as sharp and with a 2 run lead a bloop and a blast ties it.
If the Cards win and the Tigers don't blow it the two teams tied for 11th best will be playing in the WS. The RS is meaningless its all about getting hot late in time for the playoffs while the good teams clinch early and can't ramp it back up.
Tigers 77-69 ended 11-5
Cards 76-70 ended 12-4
In the 2000's the teams with the most wins during the season have a 75-66 playoff record, the teams with the fewest amount of wins heading into the playoffs are 76-67.

San Fran strikes first on Kung Fu Panda's ground out. Nice start Giants.
