I don't understand why they would dl him now. At least wait til after the game. Heck if we win today you could make a case to keep him on the roaster if there's any chance at all he could pitch.

To keep our opponents guessing.....which raises the question why spill the beans now? To that question, your guess is as good as mine.

    Here's my theory.

1)They said back spasms to keep our opponents guessing (when they initially thought oblique strain = out for the rest of the playoffs),

    2) and now they've admitted it was an oblique strain for the same reason, to keep our opponents guessing wrong (ie Johnny is now expected back much sooner than your typical oblique strain)

This is a shame, but I guess it'll even things out with the Nats not using Strasburg.

I think tonight's game just grew a little bit in importance. It's the difference between five days to figure everything out - or deciding on the fly whether to send guys out on short rest and/or shelve Cueto for the NLCS.

    Without a doubt.

Exactly. What is the point of lying in that situation? I see none.

I would rather see Hoover start and use the pen long relievers in a game including Leake than Leake starting. But maybe he'll pull a "Bronson".

To be fair, Fay was just retweeting someone else's post. Fay included a skeptical note.

He also just tweeted that Latos is dealing with the flu (though it wasn't bad enough that they sent him home).

Maybe the Reds are just fond of adversity and are in search of it?!

They did knowTexas Dave. I was told by a HIGH ranking Reds official during game 1 in SF that it was an oblique strain.

Okay, then why lie about it? What is the tactical advantage? What did they gain by lying?

To spread disinformation to your foe.

General rule----the less accurrate your opponent's info is the better.

Maybe he was rooming with Scott Rolen. Are back spasms contagious?
