They don't want this to go to a Game 5, where the chokejob can be complete and they'll be eliminated.

    So they'll start to press.

And that plays right into the hands of a guy like Barry Zito, who is happy to spin up awful pitch after awful pitch.

And before you know it, the game is over and they've been shut out.
And here's the thing: Zito is a guy who is not very good, and the Reds just make guys like him look like Bob Gibson circa 1965.

If Dusty wins in spite of himself, then presumably a GOOD manager would have won 105 games this season.

He's brought the team a long way, and they are still playing ball on October 10. Cut the guy some slack.

I was going to suggest starting a Game 5 thread.

Yep. Should have started Latos. I don't understand this logic (and I like Leake... just not in this spot)

This isn't a mid 2000's Reds team. I don't think there is a single guy in this lineup that is afraid to face Matt Cain at this point. And I don't think there is a single guy that is thinking this game is already over.

They won a great number of those games with Todd Frazier at third base.

Also I hate to remind everyone of this, even if we chase Zito, the Giants have a multiple Cy Young winner in the pen.

Well- would you rather have Mat Latos not at full strength today and then Mike Leake for the defining game five?

If Rolen lost his job in May, why didn't Frazier lose it back in September?

Why would you bring back Chapman for a second inning reducing his availability(or at least effectiveness) if he's needed to pitch tonight? The strategy changes dramatically when you have no idea if him pitching a 10th inning will actually lead to a win.

Latos wasn't feeling well yesterday. He's never started on three days rest.

    The decision is understandable.

    Go Reds.

I just want to know why Dusty doesn't have someone warming in the pen. 1 more run and definitely 2 more runs and you're really putting a lot of pressure on the offense. Leake hasn't fooled anyone. His pitches are getting hit. Hard.
