    No, Hanigan is very slow. A bunt could easily be a double play. And a bunt takes away the chance of a hit.

    Hanigan is slow, the move was obviously made to avoid the double play and still give Hanigan a chance for a hit.

    Debatable, but not clearly terrible IMO.
