    Dusty's Playoff Record

Did some digging on Dusty's record in the playoffs. Interesting to say the least:

97 Giants: 3-0 loss to Marlins

00 Giants: Up 1-0 against Mets, lose 3 in a row

02 Giants: Win 2 series to make it to WS against Angels. Up 3-2 in WS
and lose 2 in a row

03 Cubs: Beat Atlanta, go up 3-1 on Marlins and lose 3 in a row

10 Reds: 3-0 loss to Phils

    12 Reds: argh

Five of six exits from the playoffs were by losing the last 3 in a row. The other exit was by losing the last two in a row.
    Huh? Huh-uh. Oh yeah, uh-huh.

Even if it means a lost season or 2, we need a manager who can take us to the WS or bust.
I've said all winter — they talk about this team winning the division — and my comment is, they won't win it because, at the end of the day, they still are the Chicago Cubs, and they will figure out a way to screw this whole thing up. - Marty Brennaman

OMG! As a matter of fact, there was some discussion a couple of weeks on ESPN back when he was sick that he should be concidered for manager of the year.

exactly why i didnt want him brought back although losing your ace in game 1 and any manager would have trouble winning a series but in the fashion we lost is just bad. Hopefully Jacoby is fired and that will possibly help

I do believe you're onto something there, HUHUH.

BTW, how's the father-in-law taking the news (of the extension)?

    I can't believe he's taking it well.

    Hey malcontent,

I think the lesson here is that we should have hoped to not win the first two games, as that put us in position to lose the last three. Sounds kind of contorted, but if you're playing the odds......

Have not spoken with the F.I.L. about the extension, but I am almost certain, as you are, that he is not in favor (strongly so).

    Hope all is well.
