    Price on his way out?

There is a rumor that the Miami Marlins are going to interview Cincinnati Reds' pitching coach Bryan Price for its vacant managerial spot. Price's name has come up with former Marlin catcher Mike Redmond and Dodgers' Tim Wallach.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, the Marlins have received permission from the Blue Jays to interview Mike Redmond for their managerial vacancy.
Redmond, who played with the Marlins from 1998-2004, is currently the manager with Class-A Dunedin. Joe Frisaro of MLB.com has called him "a strong frontrunner" for the job, but Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach and Reds pitching coach Bryan Price are also in the mix. Other candidates could still emerge in the days ahead.

Price is bound to receive some interest. His staffs have done well wherever he's been, and most of his pitchers really like him.

That's the tough thing about coaches-- surrounding yourself with the best means having to constantly find new ones.

Good for Price-- bad for Cincinnati.

Could happen, bad place to work though.

Plus successful managers who were pitchers is a short list in the games history

And remember that Price speaks Spanish. It counts for something for all teams to communicate to the players, but maybe more in Miami to communicate to all the fans/press as well.

I wish Price well if he ever gets the chance to manage somewhere. No hard feelings whatsoever, yet he'll be missed.

Having said that, I equate managing the Marlins to being the head coach of the Bengals. Futility at it's finest.

Alright, who's starting the rumor about Price and all the skeletons in his closet? For example: I can't believe Bryan Price is a supporter of Fidel Castro.

We can't risk losing him; let's pull out all the stops.

    (Just kidding. Maybe.)

More money I'm sure. If he was offered it, why wouldn't he take it?

Interesting tidbit from that article: "Price interviewed for a previous Marlins managerial vacancy before he joined the Reds in 2009."

Would they settle for Brook Jacoby instead?

Re: Price on his way out?

If Price gets the Marlins Manager job, maybe it's time to revisit the old Chapman-for-Stanton discussions?

Nobody knows/supports Chapman better than Price

    Which really isn't surprising.

Pitchers and position players may both play baseball, but they should almost be considered different species in the same genus.
