    Matt Eddy ‏@eddymk
#Reds sign veteran 1B Mike Hessman, who mashed 35 HR in Triple-A this year & has 384 career pro homers, 364 in U.S. minors.
Former Tiger if I recall correctly.

Awwwww yeah, Walt with the big free agency splashes.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I wonder if this means Beau Mills will be staying in Pensacola this upcoming season.

Michael Steven Hessman (born March 5, 1978, in Fountain Valley, California) is a first baseman who is currently a free agent. The currently active leader in career minor league home runs with 359 as of August 20, 2012, including 249 at the AAA level, Hessman is often referred to admiringly as a real life Crash Davis.[1]

Hessman used to absolutely kill the Louisville Bats when he played for Toledo. I always had a feeling would someday play for them.

Hessman is a third baseman, and a surprisingly good one for his size, if I remember correctly. But I see he is listed as 1B and Smith a 3B. One possibility would be Hessman as a DH at AAA, another would be for Smith to go to AA, or Hessman could be released if they don't like what they see in ST.

Any guesses on how long it'll be until the Reds sign Bryan Anderson?
