Slobberknocker trade proposal to shake things up!!

This team is playing to lose, we aren't hitting, our bullpen is blowing leads and we need to send a message and shake-up the clubhouse, and we should move before the deadline! So here's my idea:

    Reds/Padres

Reds trade: Ryan Lamarre(AA) Logan Ondrusek and Daniel Corcino(AAA)

Padres trade: Chris Denorfia and Joe Thatcher(LHP)

    Or they could not panic...

That's an option as well on June 10th, seeing as teams aren't going to be trading people at this point.

Agree, but I would probably still do that trade, I think that's a good one. For the Reds anyway, don't know how the Pads would feel.

I wouldn't do it if I'm the Pads. Denorfia's a nice value. Good glove, on base skills, earning below league average (aprox $2 mm/year) through 2014.

LaMarre won't be a major leaguer, Corcino hit a wall in AAA and Ondrusek is this decade's Todd Coffey.

If I'm the Pads I want someone with a better chance of being a regular MLB player.

Give me Henry Rodriguez and a pitcher and we're talking.

    O schroomy
    You looney
    That's no slobberknocker
    Of a deal
    I expected Joe Hardy
    Invited to the party
    In your deal...
    A Krusticized steal,
    Instead of Chris and Thatcher
    Which is barely a patcher
    For the Redlegs ills
    Certainly not a magic pill!

This might be a good trade. Why does suggested improvement constitute "panic"?

Panic is one of those loaded words used on RedsZone. The season is over one third over, if there are deficiencies -- why not address them?

Because the thread stater said we needed to "send a message and shake up the clubhouse". The motivation was one of "panic", not "improvement".

Shaking up a team does not cannote panic. Some teams need change to give them an additional edge.

There is a school of thought around here, by some, that the best philosophy is to sit passively by, refuse to acknowledge weaknesses, rely entirely on the "marathon" length of the season, and manage the team by inaction.

I don't subscribe to that. Some teams need change. Some teams, even good teams, need a change to jump start them.

One can make the argument that the Reds need some change. The team repeatedly fails against good teams. Their success is entirely based on beating up on the weak.

Looks to me like a good team, could win 90 games, but I don't see them competing against the top ballclubs in the playoffs. Something is missing.

Now, we can sit around and say it will all work out. Or we can try and shake things up and tweak the ballclub, hoping to add some missing features. Doesn't indicate panic to me, even if it involves adding some fire, conveying some urgency, changing the mix.

What about Ryan Wagner and Brendan Harris?!

Something is indeed missing ... I think that the Whitesox make good trade partners. The American League race is virtually over - its just the order that remains. The pale hose need to completely revamp. They have a couple of nice bully arms to look at and even an outfield bat or two.

Also, its time for Choo to move to LF.

How does a trade where the best player involved is Chris Denorfia rank as a "slobberknocker"?

I think it would not be a good time to trade Corcino. He is only 22 and has pitched well until this season.
