I always hated when Xavier played against his teams, which is about the highest complement one can give a coach. RIP.
Really sad news. Got a feeling somewhere Rick, Al, and Hank Raymonds are going to be talking a lot about basketball.
RIP coach.
More often than not, Majerus's teams played up to their potential or exceeded expectations. His sense of humor will also be missed.
A sad day in the world of College Basketball.

That's sad. I met him in a downtown Indy Steak n' Shake during the 2000 final four. He was very nice to my brothers and me, we talked with him about basketball for a good 10 minutes. His autograph on a Steak N Shake menu is still in my parents memorabilia case.

Hitters who avoid outs are the funnest.
RIP Coach.....you will be missed.
Great article. The stories alone are worth reading.
Rick Majerus built Saint Louis on grit, toughness and sharing the ball -- and plenty of classic stories.

SLU is where they are today largely because of Majerus. One of the all-time greats. His death hit me a bit during the XU-SLU matchup last night.
Great read Rev, college basketball needs more guys like Majerus.
He was a great coach. He was also a bit of a weirdo who did some truly bizarre things in front of recruits/players.
He had a great comment on ESPN a couple years ago about Rudy Gay. Very funny sense of humor.
College basketball has alot of Runyonesque characters ... Looie Carneseca, Al McGuire, Howie Garfinkel, Pete Carrill. Majerus definitely fits in with that group.

Jim Cruz was just named AP's coach of the year. Mr. Majerus is smiling in heaven. Locally, this has been one of the more inspirational stories I've seen in years what St. Louis University has done.
