    I think the Yankees actually are motivated by cutting salary. Cashman has been told to get under the luxury threshold and Granderson makes a pretty penny. Unless you feel like spending $15MM on him, no thanks.
    Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    I think they're trying to get under the tax limit by 2014, so getting a return of cheap talent that could help them do that then is probably more important than saving all of Granderson's salary in '13.

    THis would be the type of trade that would set the Reds contention movement back some years.

    I wouldn't give either player for Granderson, much less both.

    The only way I do it is for a middling prospect or Stubbs or Heisey, and the Yankees pay $8M-$10M of his salary.
