    Kyle Lotzkar

I talked to Lotzkar and you have to really feel for this kid. He hopes to be ready for spring training after latest shoulder issue that ended 2012 season. He has put so much into it but just has not been able to stay healthy. It seems to be taking its toll on him. I am sure they will take it slow again in Goodyear. You think about what he has been through and no wonder his spirits are a little shaken.

Okay, so much for trying to post from IPad. Sorry about screwed up title to this thread. Maybe it can be fixed but I can't seem to edit it.

Assuming once the regular season starts he goes to Pensacola?

I would think so. Problem is there is some reluctance to totally cut it loose on all pitches and it is hard to get good hitters out that way. He has to be not only healthy but confident that he won't hurt it again to be able to be effective and really throw the ball.

Maybe a move to the bullpen would help with the injuries?

Perhaps. Though you wonder if perhaps his arm can't do the 2-3 days in a row things too. At some point it should probably be considered.

Yeah, I thought about that too. Trade him.

Talked to Kyle in a meet and greet and he said the shoulder is still a little rough, he is just resting it hoping to avoid surgery. He also said he plans on heading to the bullpen next and is pretty excited about it. Said he just wants to do anything to help out and thinks the pen will be "less stress" on the body.

GREAT kid and I can say the same for many of the Reds prospects. Tucker, Daniel, Muhamad and Ryan were all class and awesome to talk to.

Too late. No one is going to trade for a kid who is going through shoulder issues. If the Reds want to flip him, they're going to have to wait until he proves he is healthy.

As a centerpiece, you're right. As an add-on, who knows? Reds once traded for Daryl Thompson.

    Re: Kyle Lotzkar

Let him completely rest his shoulder from now to over the winter. Put him in the bullpen. Try to salvage that wonderful arm somehow. He's still young enough and he'd be noting more than a toss in as trade bait now. The smartest move is rest, bullpen and hope.

Would it be safe to drop this guy off the 40-man if a spot is needed to protect another prospect?

At this point I would not be averse to risking the claim if another prospect needed to be protected.

I agree, and Villarreal may be another one I would remove from the 40-man. However, I'm glad I'm not the person in charge of making those decisions.

Add Freeman to that, too. There is some pruning that could done on the 40 man without any real damage to the system, imo.
