    Cards' Westbrook to the DL

    inflamed elbow

    1.62 era in 7 starts
    The older I get - the better I was

    and yes - I hate the Cardinals (Reds fan since 1958)

    He has my sympathy as a ball player -- coming from a guy that has had two surgeries to my throwing elbow -- both started out as what was called inflammation.

    I thought they were going to bring up Michael Wacha but they called up John Gast. He's been pitching well this year at AAA but it's a small sample size.

    Whatever starter they bring up will be amazing I'm sure... Cardinals aren't allowed to have bad starting pitching

    Injuries happen. That's why you have a backup plan and a good bench. The Reds are one game out of first because our fifth outfielder is Xavier Paul, our sixth starter is Tony Cingrani, and we entered the season leaving three perfectly competent relievers in AAA. The Cardinals are in first because their replacement for Chris Carpenter was Shelby Miller. I would imagine that with guys like Carlos Martinez on the roster, the Cardinals will survive this, too. Don't expect them to just keel over.
