so average offense and plus defense = above-average shortstop. That is pretty darn valuable, no?
There are varying levels of 'above average' though. Valuable, yes. How valuable... that's the part that's debatable. Some see him as a utility player based on scouting reports, so there is some generosity in even calling him above average.

I like Bauer, but the Reds don't need him. They need Choo.

Better hope they are not a future Cy Young Award winner.

Agree BUT then they could trade some of their pitching excess (Leake, Corcino, Cingrani) for Fowler or Upton. Oh well, I'm still quite happy with Choo.
    Go BLUE!!!

Congrats Reds fans, this is a helluva day!

I'll type the lineup for myself, but we all know it by heart already:

    BP
    Votto
    Luddy
    Bruce
    Frazier
    Cozart
    Hanniraco

    Re: Shin-soo Choo?

Seems like everytime we make a deal with Cleveland it works out in our favor. I am all on board...

    Graves and parts for Smiley
    Casey for Burba
    Phillips for Stevens
    Choo for Stubbs and DiDi

all in recent memory... Who else?

Sure. And some see him as a second division starter, which pans out as above-average in most cases. He is a prospect for a reason. We aren't entirely sure what he is yet. But if he is going to be a league average bat, he is going to be a 3.5-4 win player.
