Jocketty on keeping rotation in tact.

Below is the link on Walts thoughts on keeping all our starters. Basically said it's going to be tough to keep everyone, but would like to get long term deals done with both Bailey and Latos.

Yep...depending on how its going, and if he's willing, he could be a mid-year trade...he'd have the right to say no, correct?

If we trade him, we owe him all of his deferred money right then and there. He won't be traded.

I like what Arroyo has done since he got here, but is this not going to be his 'off' year? Good one year, not so well the next? If Bailey picks up where he left off, then resigning him, would seem like a no-brainer.

I'm sure they are "interested" in signing a lot of guys long term. Just a matter of the financials

How does Choo fit in the long term?

The way I see it, one season of Choo in CF (or Bruce) is fine to fill our leadoff need. But I don't want him there long term. Ludwick is signed for 2 seasons, so would 2014 have them as platooning with BHam holding down CF for most of the games? Signing Choo (a Boras client) and having Ludwick for what, 7.5mil? in 2014 seems expensive.

That's why I said of course they would be "interested". I'm sure they were "interested" in Greinke, Hamilton, etc. That doesn't mean they would be affordable

Yea, I see what you are saying. I almost think the Ludwick signing could hurt the Reds. I wouldn't mind having Choo as the LF for a couple years, and I think Luddy will regress quite a bit. And with what's going on with Bourn, it is a pretty good possibility a team could sign him to a 1 year deal so he can enter the market again next year. He would fit perfectly in Cincinnati for a year. But with Choo and Luddy there is no room.

But back to the point of the thread, I would love to see Latos locked up long term. Would like to see Bailey locked up too, but Latos has to be the priority imo.

I'm with you there. Choo and Bourn would have looked real nice in Left and Center
