Reds sign a 7'1 dude to a minor league deal

    rotoworld's take
Reds signed RHP Loek Van Mil to a minor league contract.
The 7'1 native of the Netherlands, has struggled to find consistency over seven seasons in the minor leagues. Still just 28-years-old, he possesses tremendous stuff and could crack the major league bullpen if he improves his command.

"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Nice, we could use some height at center.

just for yuicks, I'd like to see them play this guy in the middle infield for a couple games
". . . acquiring J. Blanton from Oakland for, apparently, Bailey/Cueto, Votto and a lesser prospect. I do it in a second . . . The Reds' equation this year is simple: Make Matt Belisle your #3 starter . . . trade for Blanton, win 85 or more, be in the mix all summer." - Paul Daugherty, Feb. 8, 2008

Or as catcher and even squatting he's blocks out the ump. :O)
    2014 predictions:
99-63 WS champs (Cards take 2nd WC, Mil 3rd, Pit 4th, Chi 5th)
Bruce/Votto neck and neck MVP race (neither takes it)
    Bailey CYA winner

Can't wait to see him start powerbombing batters who hang over the plate.

Didn't the Reds have the tallest pitching staff last season?

I've seen him pitch before...while Cates (pictured) was at SS. It was funny.

With the mess the Big East is in right now, they'd probably take them

Play him in left - nothing is getting over the wall on him, he could probably snag a ball that would normally land in the 3rd row without jumping!

No thanks. That gig blew up an entire season one year when Bobby Tolan hurt his achilles tendon with a Reds offseason basketball team.
