    Re: Ryan Freel commits suicide

Freel played on some awful Reds teams, and gave a lot of fans a reason to cheer in an otherwise gloomy situation. I still remember his catch against Pujols, it was one of the most amazing defensive plays in the outfield I've ever seen.

I also remember when he was hit by a pitch, and the ball went into his jersey. He just flipped the bat and ran to first with the ball bouncing around in there.

Another great memory... Randy Johnson was pitching a complete game against us in the 9th. Freel led off the inning with a walk, stole second, then third, and came home to score the go ahead run to win the game, covered in dirt of course.

No surprise here.....except maybe the fact that his first one was at 2 years old

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.
