They are getting rid of the old bullpen phones and going wireless. =( I lost the link but will try to find it.

So instead of picking up a phone connected to a wire and calling the bullpen, they will pick up a phone that is wireless and call the bullpen?
I guess I'm not too shaken.
Great, so now we will have coaches wandering around the dugout looking for a signal, playing Tetris, and texting their buddies during games.
that unit sure is ugly.
Just so long as they don't mess with the Banana Phone.
I guess I don't get it. Wireless creates more opportunity for failure than does a land line phone. I always suspected that those bullpen phones were basically just one step above two tin cans and a string. Simple, hard to mess up. Cell phones introduce batteries, signal strength, malfunctioning hardware and malfunctioning software.
But I guess TMobile can't market a basic phone as well.
I honestly cannot wait for a cell phone issue (no service, battery dies, losing the phone) to impact a game-- unless, of course, the team in question is the Reds. Can we also take bets on the first manager to throw a phone at an ump?
Dusty: "Hey Joey tell Cozart we need Marshall to start warming up"
Joey: "Zach tell Marshall we need him warming up"
Zach: "Hey Choo yell at Marshall and tell him to warm up"
Choo: "Marshall start warminhg up"
I think the person who voted Aaron Sele should lose their ballot.
"the dugout phones will remain in place in case teams prefer to use them."
This is nothing but a marketing opportunity.
