Chris Heisey likely to sign 1-yr deal

    Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN

CIN talked to Chris Heisey about multi-year deals re:arbitration situation, but he's likely to sign 1-year deal, source close to Reds says.

Smart move from a career perspective, IMO. Last year was a down year for him. I don't think he'd be able to play himself off next year's team, so it's not like it's his only chance to make some money.

If he gets traded, becomes a starter, and puts up good numbers, his leverage bodes well for a better contract.

Does anyone think that Heisey is ever going to land a starting job anywhere?

He's Reds' property until 2017. If I was him, I wouldn't mind signing a 2 year deal. I just can't see him making himself that much more valuable to an arbitrator next year.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe Chris thinks that going year to year will hasten a trade out of Cincy? I'd grab some security if I was Chris.

Heisey is Just another Denorfria... Something the Reds are very good at producing.

Is it just me or are the Reds rather conspicuous in their absence in this list?

Meaning that Walt is about to announce a bunch of LTC's?
