1908 - The Cubs win their most recent World Series

4 years after that - Arizona becomes a state.

86 years after that - Arizona gets an MLB team.

3 years after that - The Diamondbacks win the World Series.

Thinking about this makes me laugh. Hard.

Re: We are not mocking the Cubs enough

Just moved to Chicagoland this past summer - caught a Reds-Cubs titanic struggle at Wrigley. Really more of a social event than a ball game people will go to the yard even when they are terrible - I mean 1980's Reds Paul Householder terrible.

Hard to mock those who really don't care.

If anyone caught The Simpsons last night, the regular bullies were asked why they became bullies. One said "Abuse" the next "neglect" and the third said, "I'm a Cubs fan."

Re: We are not mocking the Cubs enough

For me, it's not so much the Cubs team I despise. In fact, back in "the old days", when cable TV first became available in my area, WGN used to carry the Cubs almost daily. For a baseball junkie, it was nice. The teams were awful. But it WAS baseball....kinda.

My distaste is for the arrogant, obnoxious, drunken Cubs fans that seem to migrate to Cincinnati for the Cubs-Reds series. It makes you just hope the Reds bury them every game! And it pees me off that sometimes they seem to outnumber Reds fans. That's not been as noticeable the last couple of years.

I had to look it up. They seriously haven't won since 20 years before sliced bread was introduced.

I just hope that if the Cubs ever win the World Series (god forbid), a Jimmy Fallon/Drew Barrymore filming scene ruins the moment.

I watched an interleague game in Tampa against the Cubs and it made me realize the reason they put their games on TV was because even they can't stand to watch a game with their fans.

“Probably not,” he replied. “People aren’t going to go to Wrigley Field and want to see a mascot. There are other things people want to see.”
Obviously, good baseball by the home team isn't one of them since they keep showing up. From what I can tell, they want to see fat guys with their shirts off, A "C" painted on their chest, and a beer in a plastic cup that's spilling on the people in front of them.

They are arguably the most insufferable fan base in baseball. It's at least a tie between them and Red Sox fans.
