There's no comparing the futility of the Cubs to that of any other franchise. You were alive for the last Reds WS victory -- there can't be more than 1 or 2 people in Chicago that can make the same claim

I think this thread needs a permanent sticky.

You are correct but as you note:
championships matter- 22 years and counting and 1 in 37 years is not a great track record.

    True.

But it's still not as bad as being a Cub Fan

And yet, the Reds have won 5 WS since the Cubs last won, ranking behind only the Yanks, Cards, A's, Red Sox, and Dodgers - and tied with the Pirates.

Plus, the Reds have played in 6 WS since the Cubs last appeared in one. And this thread is about mocking that sorry franchise.

    The Cubs: Ptooey.

One of my favorite quotes; I think it was my sig line for a while:

It’s hard to put your finger on it. You have to have a dullness of mind and spirit to play here. I went through pyschoanalysis and that helped me deal with my Cubness.

True. However if championships were evenly distributed among all MLB teams each team would only win a World Series every 30 years. It ain't easy.
Failing to win even one championship in more than a century is a horrible track record.

Especially when for the longest time baseball carried less than 20 teams.

This thread reminds me of a quote I once saw:

At a press conference Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs and their absence from the World Series announced an agreement to a four-year contract extension, with an option for another.

    Pitchers and catchers reported today....

.... and the Cubs were mathematically eliminated from play-off contention.
