Re: We are not mocking the Cubs enough

Last time the Cubs won the W-S the US had 46 states, Oklahoma had been a state for less than 1 full calendar year.

The last time the Cubs wont the W-S, the following had yet to be invented.
    The crossword puzzle
    Sun Tan Lotion
    "Talkies"
    Plastic
    Bras
    Zippers
    Oreos
    Bubble Gum
And of course the Internet (Al Gore Senior was not yet 1 the last time the Cubs won the World series.)
Pluto was discovered, declared a planet, then not declared a planet.

And rumor has it, that since the cubs last won the world series, Dirt was born, but I'm still awaiting confirmation of that.

Since the Cubs last the WS, the following has occured:
Haley's coment has come and gone twice.
    The Boy Scouts were created.
The first full service grocery store was opened
The first winter olympics were held.

The Cubs last World Series triumph occurred 12 years before the RBI became an official stat, and film's first animation feature was created.

Is 5 full pages enough mocking yet? LOL

I need to share this thread with a buddy of mine who is a HUGE Cub fan.

The Cubs come to GABP this Memorial Day, and we're planning on getting tickets.

May 26 1908 – At Masjid-al-Salaman in southwest Persia, the first major commercial oil discovery in the Middle East is made.

no real relevance, just another historical tidbit to point out.

Last year the Cubs won four games against the Reds. Johnny Cueto had four wins against the Cubs by himself.

There is always this great song.

The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Get your shots in now, cause with their payroll and Theo (who I actually think is overrated, but still has been a giant upgrade) its just a matter of time...

Theo may be able to turn things around but just because he did it in BOS doesn't mean he will do it in CHI. Theo's cupboard in BOS was pretty well stocked when he took over. It was pretty bare when he took over in CHI.

This is probably my favorite one:

Like I said, I think he is overrated (The Golden Boy who finally brought a title to Boston....please )

But he's not inept either. That plus the payroll advantage that the Cubs have should result in a competitive ball club. I've found him to be fairly disciplined so far...I'm sure he could have spent a lot of money this past year, but frankly there wasn't much worthwhile to do so on. That in and of itself is a step in the right direction.

623,038 Cubs have come to the plate since the Cubs last won the World Series, meanwhile it only took the Diamondbacks 53,401 PA's to grab a WS.
