    October
October 5 – Bulgaria declares its independence from the Ottoman Empire; Ferdinand I of Bulgaria becomes Tsar.
October 6 – The Bosnian Crisis begins after the Austro-Hungarian Empire annexes Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    [edit] November
November 6 – Western bandits Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid are supposedly killed in Bolivia, after being surrounded by a large group of soldiers. There are many rumors to the contrary however, and their grave sites are unmarked.

I have told people for several years, we never have to worry about the cubs, they have Wrigley & its the happiest place on earth when the Cubs lose, theres no incentive to be better. Not bad for a delapidated, condemned building.
    Bring on 2018! #%?*!

I missed this thread when it first came out. Bravo M2, Westofyou, Marty Brenneman, and all of you who contributed to my finishing the day on a high note.

The last time the Cubs won a World Series their line up card was written in hieroglyphics.

I don't know if a link to this site is elsewhere on the thread
    http://sincethecubswon.tumblr.com/
It points out that since the Cubs won traffic lights, Jazz, and crossword puzzles were all developed and women got the right to vote.

In case you want to know how many days it has been the Cubs won the Series, there's an app for that:

Are you sure the accounts of the last Cubs WS win appeared in newspapers, or were they etched wood carvings?

I showed this to a Cardinals-fan friend (it's nice how disdain for the Cubs can bring adversaries closer together) and he chimed in with this:

Isn't it funny how the Ottoman Empire, dissolved in 1922, is more relevant than the Cubs?

Re: We are not mocking the Cubs enough

While I of course knew it had been more than a century since the Cubs had won a post season series, I was surpised when I looked at Baseball Reference.com this afternoon to see just how bad the Cubs have been in the post season since they last won.
The Cubs have played in 12 different post season series since 1910. They have not only lost them all, their overall record was 14 wins, 44 losses, a "winning" percentage of .241.
By way of comparison, the 1962 Mets, who are on anyone's short list of the worst teams in MLB history, had a regular season record of 40-120, a .250%. In the post season, the Cubs have been worse than that.

All right, let's do some over/unders for various Cubs:

    Carlos Marmol WHIP: 1.60

    Starlin Castro errors: 27

    Darwin Barney OB: .295
