Re: Tony Campana DFA'd

His first MLB hit occurred in GABP, which iirc was an RBI single. Very humble guy whom I've had the chance to hang out with. I hope for him the best and a bright career.

his first and only home run came against Cincinnati, too. that home run was one of the reasons people were iffy about putting Alonso in LF lol

Runs fast, can't hit -- worked out for the Indians in "Major League."

Re: Tony Campana DFA'd

Campana can play a very passable CF plus the OF corners.

He might be worth it as a late-inning PR/ defensive sub in September.

Stash him in AAA until then?

Campana still has two options left, which could come in hady. I'd love to have him, but who do you take off the roster to make it happen?

I'd swap out Pedro Villarreal for Campana without thinking twice. I don't see a major-league future for Villarreal. Campana's not likely to ever be a regular, but he can definitely do things. He always worried me when he came to the plate for the Cubs. The guy is crazy fast, and he's the type of player who knows how to use his speed. And while I wouldn't be upset about losing Villarreal, I'd venture that there's a very good chance he could clear waivers.

Re: Tony Campana DFA'd

Seems like a good player to have down in Louisville. If the Reds want to give Hamilton more time in CF and Choo has problems in CF, then moving Ludwick to the bench and Campana to CF is not too terrible. Having Ludwick's bat coming off the bench would surely be a HUGE improvement over anything that was on the bench last year.

Blech! Stashing him in Louisville is one thing, but I don't want any part of Campana as a starter - especially at the cost of Ludwick or Choo's bat.

I wish there was a spot for him. Unless he's willing to accept a minor league deal...

No. Absolutely not. No more "hustlers", that play the game "like Pete Rose used to". I don't care that he is a local kid, I don't care that he went to UC. NO NO NO!!!!

That wooden stick that he carries to the plate is made of termite infested balsa. The guy doesn't hit. He is the worst kind of guy to have on the team. The kind the unwashed masses love to see. The little guy, who gets his uniform dirty. Bad teams have lots of them.

He is more than just a hustle guy, he has 54 SB in 347 PA. Yes he only has a .262 career average but the MLB average was .254 last season. So he is an average hitter with GREAT wheels

It would be great to have that kind of speed on the bench late in a game when you are down by only one run. Plus Choo will need to be sub'ed for defense late in some games. (unless Bruce is moved to CF and Choo to RF)

Re: Tony Campana DFA'd

Huh?

.262 career batting average in 184 games is bad? I'll agree he has no slugging ability, but the dude stole 54 bases in 59 attempts in his career. Yes, his OBP is only slightly better than Stubbs as he rarely takes a walk...........but.......

He's only 26 years old. Change of scenery might do him some good.

I'd take a minor league flyer on him.

Edit:
