ONE MEGA MILLIONS TICKET WINS MEGA-JACKPOT! Ticket Sold In Ohio Matches All Six Numbers To Win The Estimated $170 Million JackpotMega Millions players are scrambling to find their tickets for the Friday, July 22, 2005 drawing, because one lucky ticket matched all six Mega Millions numbers and is worth an estimated $170 million. The jackpot-winning ticket, which was purchased in Painesville, Ohio, matched the numbers 07-18-27-35-54 and the Mega Ball number 34. But the holder of that winning ticket is not the only winner in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing. A total of 1,193,614 tickets won prizes. That includes 13 tickets that came within a heartbeat of winning the jackpot by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were sold in Georgia (2), Massachusetts (2), New Jersey (3), New York (3), and Ohio (3). This jackpot had been building since June 3, when Mega Millions had its previous jackpot winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40. Mega Millions holds the record for the largest jackpot in U. S. history. On May 9, 2000, the jackpot for the Big Game (the forerunner of Mega Millions) grew to $363 million. There were two winning tickets in that drawing: one in Michigan and one in Illinois. Here is a breakdown of the winning tickets in Friday’s drawing: Number of Tickets Matched Winning* Jackpot Winners 1 ticket matched all 6 numbers for: JACKPOT! Other Prize Winners Prize Amount* 13 tickets matched 5 numbers for $250,000 72 tickets matched 4 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10,000 3,127 tickets matched 4 numbers for $150 3,473 tickets matched 3 numbers + the Mega Ball for $150 56,153 tickets matched 2 numbers + the Mega Ball for $10 160,643 tickets matched 3 numbers for $7 341,395 tickets matched 1 number + the Mega Ball for $3 628,737 tickets matched the Mega Ball for $2 *California law restricts California Lottery games to pari-mutuel prizes. Prize amounts in California will differ from the fixed prize amounts shown here. Go to www.calottery.com/games/megamillions for the California Lottery Web site and prize amounts. Pari-mutuel prizes means that prize amounts vary with the number of tickets sold and the number of winning tickets in each prize category. The jackpot for the Tuesday, July 26, 2005 Mega Millions drawing is $12 million. Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time. Close Window |

Re: Possible new buyer for Reds?
How much does the Reds Organization cost anyway?
If I ever become a billionaire I'm buying the Reds, and pouring a TON of money into the team, until they win the World Series a few years I don't care if I lose $, because that will be great fun as it is. The best Reds team I can really remember are the 1999 Reds Team, pretty sad to most of you who can remember the Big Red Machine, 1990, etc.

Re: Possible new buyer for Reds?
It's sad to consider that after taxes, a $170 million jackpot, even skillfully invested, probably wouldn't cover both of the top two salaries on the Reds.
