The team with the most runs after nine innings will win (barring a cancellation or postponement, of course) . . .

Sure fire Reds loss, and one game under .500 on their way to more.

Rain out, ppd, 4th inning. Leiber gets a ND (and LIKES it!)
Hasn't Junior already tied some kind of record for "most Opening Day HRs"?

Here is my prediction(or at least what I hope for), The Reds win 8-7. Joey Hamilton gives up 7 in the 1st and the late arriving crowd leaves. Reds chip their way back inning by inning. Reds tie it up in the 8th with a Larue sacrifice fly that scores Dunn. Rijo comes in and strikes out the side in the 9th and Griffey comes up and hits a solo shot with 2 out to win the game and give Rijo the win. Hey, I can imagine anyway.

Reds win 3-1. Larkin 2-3 with a double. Boone and Jr hit homers. Hamilton goes 7 innings. Rijo throws a perfect 8th and Graves gets the save.
One game above .500 and on their way to more !!!

Opening Day will be a microcosm of the REDS' 2002 season:
1) The REDS will get 3 runs or less against the opposing starter (Lieber will actually only give up one run, but I'll give the REDS the benefit of the doubt.). 2) The REDS staff will give up 5 runs or more. 3) The REDS defense will make an error (or passed ball). 4) Bob Boone will do something stupid. 5) Junior, Larkin, or Aaron Boone will have to leave the game because of an injury (or they won't even be in it to begin with). 6) Some REDS fans will still think the team can reach the playoffs.

What does "supporting the REDS" have to do with "Opending Day Predictions????"?

Reds Win. I hope they win by 20, allow 0 runs, and hit 5 HR's. That's my prediction every year. We can talk about the weaknesses of the pitching, the hitting, the manager, the owner, the city, the ballpark, or the negative fans. But I'd rather predict that the Reds will do well.
Now understand I won't bet my paycheck on it, and if the Reds lose, I'm not going to jump off a bridge or kick the dog. But I'll be back out there (or watching on TV if I can't make it) for game 2 either way, hoping for the same. For those few posters here who think what I posted sounds absurd, this is what's called being a fan. [ 03-31-2002, 07:25 PM: Message edited by: KySteveH ] |
