My day!

<img border="0" alt="[Rollin]" title="" src="graemlins/roll.gif" />
Today was a very weird day for me. My softball game got cancelled,
and my mom picked me up from school which never happens. It was a
good thing she did though. When she picked me up I asked her if she
would ride my best friend home. She said yes but we have to stop by
Krogers and get some peanut butter first. My brother had asked her
to get some. Well me and my friend went into Kroger at about 4:00
and was looking for the peanut butter. When we got in line my friend
Pam said my mom wanted detergent too, but I didn't here my mom say
that so I told her to wait in line while I went out and asked my mom
if she wanted that too. Well I went and asked and she said all she
wanted was peanut butter. So instead of trying to squeeze between
the carts and the wall I decided to go down to the closest closed
register and cutting through. Well when I began to cut through I saw
a tall man and I looked up and stared for like 5 seconds which may
not seem like long but it was to be staring at someone. Well I
rushed back to my friend and said OH MY GOD tell me that isn't Aaron
Boone and she looked and said no, but she was looking at the wrong
person. When she saw the man I was talking about her eyes got really
big and she said it is! We didn't want to make a scene by jumping
out of line so we decided to go out to my mom and wait for him in the
car. When we saw him come out we just rode around the parking lot
until we were pretty close to him and said hey aaron and he said hey
and we drove off. It was crazy! He was at the Kroger in Bellevue
Kentucky right next to Newport where I live!! He was wearing a black
pullover and a red hat. He was wearing some black, white, and red
nikes. I have some sort of sad, but happy for him news, he was with
a girl. She looked about 23-25 and had blonde hair about 3 inches
past her shoulders and was skinny. I was happy to see him with
someone and not by hiself, but it still sort of broke my heart even
though I know I have no chance with him. It was a wonderful
experience and I am glad things turned out the way they did. Does
anyone know what Kroger I am talking about?

Heather

Heather, just a hunch, bet it was the Kroger Store in Belevue. <img border="0" alt="[Beer Me]" title="" src="graemlins/beerme.gif" />

Congratulations, Heather! You will remember this day for the rest of your life.

Hey, everyone, here is a classic example of why I'm hooked on this forum. A memorable post that captures the wide-eyed excitement of seeing your hero in person.

This has to be a genuine post. Nobody to could conjure up such a perfect sequence of events. I love it!

I will never forget it! I have met him on several other occasions like RedsFest and autograph signings but it is soo different to see him in public.

OK, I'm turning off the old computer for the day but I wanted to bring this one to the top again for the overnight crowd.

I think Heather has writing ability!

She writes about her topic with enthusiasm. She includes details (peanut butter, detergent, staring at Boone's eyes for 5 seconds, nikes, Boone's girl friend, etc.) that really made me feel that I was right there with her. I can feel Heather's emotions all the way through her story.

Special!

(Note to self: Add Heather's name to my list of 'Zoners I must meet someday'.)

LOL ...wtg!

It's funny, I always swore I would not act like a fan in the presence of someone famous. I'd be Joe Cool! Then it happens and you do get sort of star struck .... cracks me up.

I can't say who I met, because BCubb would pick on me and the rest of you wouldn't know her. He may even work with her for all I know.

I'm impressed, TC, and you, too, Heather. I saw Derek Bell in a supermarket once but it's just not the same.

I never knew how I would act if I ever saw a celebrity in public. I thought I would be calm and just walk up to them casually and just say hi, but I was very wrong! I never thought I would ever be so lucky for something like that to happen to me. I guess I was wrong! The feeling of seeing someone I admire so much so unexpectedly I guess just overwhelmed me with excitement.

Heather:

You are one lucky lady, let me tell you

I like how you described this out-of-the-blue encounter of yours too

Now, as for the girlfriend...LOL never mind that!!!

I had a somewhat similar encounter of sorts during Spring Training this year. My friends and I were strolling through the Target here in Oro Valley (Tucson, AZ) and sure enough, saw Rockies pitcher Mike Hampton and his two cute little boys doing their shopping. Turns out they were staying in a place here in OV.

The following week, I once again saw the illustrious Mike Hampton in our Starbucks LOL My work (Einstein Brothers Bagels) shares a building with a Starbucks and people come to both places. I was really hoping Mike would come get a bagel from me LOL
