3/10 - Reds v. Yankees

Here's the lineup from Marc's blog...Stinnett batting 3rd for the Yanks???

Jaywalkers' Row

SARASOTA -- Honestly, what follows is the actual Yankees starting lineup for today's game. They don't even have a split-squad. So much for bringing four regulars to spring training games. WBC or not, this is pretty ridiculous.

Yankees
Kevin Reese LF
Miguel Cairo 2B
Kelly Stinnett C
Mitch Jones DH
Melky Cabrera CF
Eric Duncan 1B
Russ Johnson 3B
Felix Escalona SS
Kevin Thompson RF
Mike Mussina P

Reds
Ryan Freel 2B
Felipe Lopez SS
Scott Hatteberg 1B
Adam Dunn LF
Rich Aurilia 3B
Tuffy Rhodes DH
Austin Kearns RF
Jason LaRue C
Chris Denorfia CF
Phil Dumatrait P

Quote of the day honors go to Dunn, upon seeing the Reds' lineup card.

"How are we gonna score? Eddie's not in there..."

Guess Steinbrenner can be as passive aggressive as the next guy...

Props to Dunn. Fantastic quote.

Dunn has taken to calling him the "Dominican Babe Ruth".

Adam should have played in the WBC... he's not getting much work at 1B.

I think he would have gotten more time at 1B had WMP not played in the WBC.

Which sitting in the WBC isn't doing WMP any good either.

Good point. There's no reason today that Dunn couldn't play 1B, Hatteberg DH and Tuffy in the OF.

Re: 3/10 - Reds v. Yankees

can someone tell me why Hatteberg is hitting 3rd and Kearns 7th?

Re: 3/10 - Reds v. Yankees

I almost laughed when I saw Stinnett batting third for the Yankees, but then I noticed the third spot on the reds lineup.

Yankees get a bomb from noted slugger Felix Escalona to take a 1-0 lead after two innings. Phil Dumatrait gives up three hits in those two frames.

So far Dunn is prophetic...without EE, no offense as of yet.

Re: 3/10 - Reds v. Yankees

Reds score three in their half of the fourth. 3-1. Yankees then get one back in the top of the fifth. 3-2.
