Soto's work is done

http://news.cincypost.com/apps/pbcs....605130372/1027

POWER STEPS IN - When Mario Soto signed on to serve as Louisville's interim pitching coach, it was understood that he would serve for six weeks with the Bats before turning those duties over to someone else.

Now, Soto's time with the Bats is up.

"I hate to lose him, but that wasn't his original role," said Reds player development director Johnny Almaraz.

Soto will go back to roving throughout the Reds' organization and Ted Power will take over the day-to-day work with Louisville by next week. Former Bats pitching coach Mack Jenkins, currently the organization's roving pitching coordinator, will be with the team for its series this weekend.

Power, 51, was hired during the offseason to fill the newly created position of pitching rehabilitation coordinator. A veteran of 13 big-league seasons on the mound, six of them with the Reds, Power previously served as pitching coach for Billings (2000-01) and Dayton (2002).

"We interviewed several people, and Teddy said he'd do that job the rest of the year," said Almaraz. "That doesn't mean Mario isn't going back in there to work. He's one of our best pitching coaches, he'll be visiting all the levels to work with guys on their changeups."

Cant wait for Soto to work with Homer on refining his changeup. Seeing Hammel (Phila) pitch against the Reds last night working his changeup, all I could think about was Bailey.
