Doug Davis on the postgame

Steve asked him how what he's done to help reduce his walks.

Davis said he's stopped trying to strike everybody out and just been trying to pitch to contact

DanO must be proud.

More like: throw borderline pitches (at best) and let 'em hack.

With the lineup we ran out there it was a good plan

Re: Doug Davis on the postgame

It annoys me when they have players from the opposing team on the pregame and/or postgame shows.... one is entitled Real REDS and the other, REDS Wrap.

REDS, REDS, REDS... not the oppsoing team.

Aaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh run away! run away! DanO must be very happy. I always thought that was a Don Gullet gem, but maybe DanO had something to do with it and has not taken the idea to the Beer City? If the Brewers stop swinging at the first pitch, no matter what, we know exactly what is going on.

Re: Doug Davis on the postgame

Considering that Davis had 201 Ks last year in his second stright season of being a very effective above-average pitcher, I highly recommend he get OB out of his head...NOW.

Re: Doug Davis on the postgame

Well his ERA was in the high-4's before last night's game. Perhaps he is using this "new philosophy" to reach the REDS starters norm during the DOB years...

2004 starters: 5.23 ERA
2005 starters: 5.39 ERA

Good luck, Doug. I hope you reach the DOB norms with the DOB pitching philosophies.
