Sowers to start vs. Reds Sunday
Jeremy Sowers will make his MLB debut Sunday in a start vs. the Reds per Marty and Hal on the game broadcast tonight and http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/NAS...=.jsp&c_id=cle .
Congrats to the 17th Major Leaguer from my alma mater. Do well! (Except Sunday.)

That's some tasty dripping irony right there.
Meanwhile, Mark Schramek, the Reds compensation for not signing Sowers, can be found serving sub sandwiches in the upper deck on game night. |

-Rookie?
-Check. -Making overall major league debut? -Check. -Left-handed? -Check. -Considered "soft-tossing" lefty? -Check. The recipe is all there for a fantastic debut for young Jeremy Sowers. Great night for him to make his debut. Hopefully the Reds prove me wrong but I'm not betting on it.

If the kid has a good outing, we'll be asking ourselves, "only if the Reds had signed him."

May he get ripped by the Reds in his Major League debut...at least that would be a little poetic justice.

Chances of Sowers: 1) Giving up more than 3 runs: 10% 2) Throwing 6+ innings giving up 3 or less runs: 90% 3) Throwing 7+ innings of shutout ball: 20% 4) Getting his first victory: 85% 5) Looking like Tom Glavine in his prime: 90% 6) Upsetting Reds fans: 99.9% I hope I'm way off, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Re: Sowers to start vs. Reds Sunday
Let's see.... brilliant kid from a great family decides he wants to go to a first class university instead of signing with the Reds for far less than his market value..... hmmmmm.
We punted his pick. We took him because we knew he wouldn't sign. Good luck, kid... just not against us.
