Series of the decade?
The question is plain and simple.
Considering the standings and the date on the calender, is the upcoming four game series with the Cardinals the biggest series the Reds have played in this decade? I say yes. I think this is the biggest series since the final series of 1999 in Milwaukee. Thoughts?

Re: Series of the decade?
It is huge.
So far, I would have to say yes. I really hope there aren't a ton of Cardinal fans at the games.

Re: Series of the decade?
I'm thinking that this series against the Braves could be momentous; if the Reds win tomorrow, they may very well have knocked Atlanta out of the postseason--driven in the final nail, as it were.
That would be sweet redemption. |

Re: Series of the decade?
Or the series just played against the Dodgers could be too. It appears that their sweep has utterly ignited their offense--they may have just enough pitching to outpace the Reds now that they acquired Maddux.

A few seasons ago, I ended up on a TANK bus back to Covington woth a busload of Cardinal fans. It was really interesting, and it was all polite and respectful.

Re: Series of the decade?
I think it's the month of August as opposed to any one series in the month. If they can survive August and still be atop the WC or within a couple of games of the division, then we can start to talk about individual series.

Re: Series of the decade?
Actually, the most important three series of the season might wind up being August 24 - September 3. It's a 10 game west coast road trip against the Giants, Dodgers, and Padres. We all know what those trips have done to the Reds in the past. At that stage they will not be able to afford to lay an egg like they so often do over on the leeft coast.

Re: Series of the decade?
Series of the decade so far, possibly yes. Actually almost every series this far into a season is, because we actually have a winning record!

Re: Series of the decade?
Monday - Thurs is what it's all about.
If they come out flat during this one, they don't deserve to make the playoffs.
