But seriously, he's not that old. He's 24 years old and in A-ball and should be seeing Sarasota or Chattanooga some time soon. His peripherals are solid, and hitters aren't making good contact against him. However, he's probably one of those guys who suddenly implodes when he faces more advanced hitters.

They just saw that much potential when he was 1yr old and still crapping in his diaper.

Re: Ramon Geronimo

Someone a while back said he throws in the low 90's with a plus changeup. If that's the case then he is absolutely a legit prospect. His numbers are incredible. He's got an amazing 0.72 ERA in 49.2 innings between Sarasota and Chattanooga and has allowed only 23 hits with a 15 BB/61 K ratio. He may get a shot at making the Reds 25-man roster out of spring training at the rate he's going.

or Scott Service

most righties with average fastballs and one other pitch don't last long in the majors

Doug Jones had a poor fastball and a plus plus changeup; Trevor Hoffman had a better fastball and a great changeup.

but Geronimo is much less hittable than Todd Coffey so far. That's certainly in his favor

I thought they said he throws in the mid-to-high 80s?

Someone on here who has watched him pitch says he throws in the low 90's.

actually, I think that someone quoted an article in Reds Report, which is where I learned that Ed Taubensee was a good defensive catcher

Re: Ramon Geronimo

This guy deserves a shot.

Old or not, bad velocity or not, his peripherals suggest he's worth taking a look at.
