Nats' Guzman Hits for the Cycle, Expos/Nats pass Reds in number of cycles
Now that Cristian Guzman has hit for the eighth cycle in Expos/Nats history, that 39 year-old franchise has passed the Reds (who have 7) in number of cycles.

Uhhh, it was the SECOND cycle....not the eighth...oh...I see you're adding the Expos too. Yep. Pretty amazing really.

Well that didn't take long, relatively speaking! It's a rarely occuring stat so I take it w/o much fanfare.

Adrian Beltre and Stephen Drew have both hit for the cycle today. Beltre so far is 5-for-5 with two singles, a double, triple, and a homerun against the Rangers while Drew went 5-for-5 with a single, two doubles, a triple, and a homerun against the Cardinals. Crazy. When's the last time two guys hit for the cycle in the same day?

I just looked it up... this is only the second time in baseball history that two players hit for the cycle in the same day. You have to go all the way back to September 17th, 1920 when Bobby Veach and George Burns each hit for the cycle on that day.

Amazing that it's ever happened, considering that most teams have averaged less than 1 cycle per decade.

Didn't the Reds have somebody nearly hit for the cycle a few years back, but they ended up with two doubles and no single?

Dunn missed the cycle by a single on May 10th, 2007 against the Astros. Last Friday, Dickerson fell a triple shy of the cycle... the next day he tripled in his first atbat.
