In case anyone's wondering, I set the poll to end in 3.4 days, but it automatically defaulted the entry to 3 days. Anyway, I'm down to Sappelt and Smith (who I like more than Lecure).

I'll go with Jordan Smith. He's got a nice pitchers frame, can run his fastball up to 95/96, and he's got groundball tendencies.

Re: Who is Redszone's #38 prospect?

Don't know why it is that Mace Thurman is fading so fast. Admittedly, he has pitched only 33.1 professional innings. But the guy has struck out 45 batters in that time, and he's a 21-year-old lefthander with a strong collegiate background. The Blue Jays drafted him out of high school and again after his freshman year of junior college. He did well in one season at Baylor, which was evidently the first time he pitched in relief. So what's the problem?

I think enough has been stated to make me re-consider my position on Parker here and go with Jordan Smith.

Huh. Smith gets mentioned by an expert at BA in another thread and now he's leading by a landslide...

And that had absolutely nothing to do with me voting for him. I mentioned a few threads back that he was one of two or three candidates to receive my next vote. I had Smith as the 35th best prospect in my own top 40.

That plus the Reds S/T invite plus everyone pushing him makes him seem like the logical pick all of a sudden. Admittedly he's one that I never knew much about myself until recently.

I thought the same thing, but fwiw, he received the second-most votes in the last poll. A couple people have been saying his name for quite a while.

Of course the next question I would ask is why is Sean Watson already four spots ahead of him?

I confess. It had everything to do with changing my vote. I had not been high on him because of his poor AA showing and K/9 under 7. The expert analysis led me to believe he is a somewhat polished pitcher. There are certainly limits to what can be learned sitting in my arm chair reading stats.
