Halfway point, halfway house
Right around the halfway point in the season (just two games shy, actually), I thought it would be interesting to see who the most mediocre players in the National League have been. What's scary is that if you put together this halfway house of inept players, the Reds are still over .500 despite making up large portions of the roster.
Here is what the lineup would be of the most (un)productive players by position in the league this year. I'm using only players that have acquired at least 100 at-bats to this point in the season and using base runs as the runs created (per 600 plate appearances) figure. Least Productive Players by Position (Min: 100 AB) POS TM PLAYER RC/600 C WAS Wil Nieves 35 MIL Jason Kendall 42 1B ARI Chad Tracy 57 SFO Travis Ishikawa 69 2B CHC Aaron Miles 35 SDP Edgar Gonzalez 49 SS CIN Alex Gonzalez 40 SFO Emmanuel Burris 44 3B CIN Adam Rosales 37 FLA Wes Helms 45 LF ARI Eric Byrnes 52 NYM Fernando Tatis 56 CF MIL Jody Gerut 45 CIN Willy Taveras 48 RF SDP Brian Giles 41 WAS Austin Kearns 48

Re: Halfway point, halfway house
Also meant to add, though he does not yet qualify for this list (as he has only 73 at-bats), Paul Janish is actually a run worse than Alex Gonzalez over 600 plate appearances. He is on pace for 39 runs created.
