Dodgers/Indians discussing a blockbuster trade!

per rotoworld and fox Sports Ken Rosenthal:

"According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers and Indians are in serious discussions about a trade that would send Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez to the Dodgers for a package including either Clayton Kershaw or Chad Billingsley.

James Loney would also be involved, which makes sense because Martinez would play first base most of the time in L.A. We imagine that the Indians would prefer Kershaw, who will be a lot cheaper than Billingsley over the next few years. It's certainly be a fascinating trade if it gets done. "

Re: Dodgers/Indians discussing a blockbuster trade!

Kevin Baxter of the LA Times quotes a Dodgers executive saying there is "less than zero truth" to the rumors regarding the trade.

1. Billingsley and Kershaw are both better than Cliff Lee.
2. The Dodgers have Martin. Martinez would have to play 1B. They have Loney there, no need for Martinez. Martinez's only benefit is he switch hits.

How does this deal benefit the Dodgers at all?

I can't imagine the Dodgers would give up either of their fine young pitchers for Cliff Lee.

This rumor is old and has already been completely debunked.
