Better Than The Magic Number
So most people know what a magic number is in baseball. The problem with the magic number formula is its simplicity, it does not take into account the number of games played between teams. Well this site provides a breakdown of more precise "magic numbers" for each teams including 1st place clinching and playoff clinching.
The explanation of the numbers is quite interesting and if you enjoy math and numbers then it is worth a read. So good news, before tonights game if we only lost 10 more games the rest of the season we are guaranteed a playoff spot.

An AMAZING gain for our chances to make the playoffs today.. 9.5 % up off one day! lol (never seen that in May before) 64.4% chance overall of making it. LOTS of games left though. |
