Birthdays- 9/28

Reds:

Zach Stewart (25) You all know the deal with him.

Micah Owings (29) -Had a nice year; good for him. Oddly, as he started to pitch better he stopped hitting.

Cesar Hernandez (45) For the first time since I've been doing this project, I've run across a Reds player that I have absolutely no memory of. Anyone have anything on Hernandez?

Others:

Ryan Zimmerman (26) If I could add one player to the Reds, I'm not sure I wouldn't choose Zimmerman.

Todd Worrell (52) 1986 Rookie of the Year.

Jack Fournier -Very good 1B of the 1920s; largely forgotten now.

Re: Birthdays- 9/28

Hernandez was a humorous part of the early 1993 season in the outfield, making many mistakes, such as falling down while chasing fly balls. Gary Burbank even did a montage of Marty Brennamen's calls of Hernandez' mistakes, which was quite funny, especially once they become less surprising and Marty was less forgiving.

He was just awful in the outfield, even though I believe he had the reputation of a "speed and defense" guy.

...and we could always add Dick Gernert 84. He spent several so-so years playing first base in the AL, mainly for the Bosox. To me though, his real claim to fame is that he was part of the 'rag-tag' Reds pennant winners of 1961, as a back-up for Gordy Coleman.
