Reds tragically lose a scout
Reds Mourn Death Of Scout Brian Wilson
CINCINNATI - Prior to this afternoon’s 1:15 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox at Great American Ball Park, the Cincinnati Reds will have a moment of silence for Brian Wilson, a scouting supervisor in Texas who died last night of a heart attack. Wilson, 33, is survived in Albany, Texas by his wife, Prairie, and daughters 11-year-old Carson, 10-year-old Conor and 8-year-old Curry. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. “The Cincinnati Reds family mourns the loss of an excellent scout, wonderful husband and loving father,” said Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky. “In his 13 seasons in the organization, Brian touched many people inside and outside of baseball. He will truly be missed. We send our most heartfelt condolences to Brian’s family and friends.” Wilson was signed by the Reds as an infielder in the 33rd round of the June 1994 free-agent draft and in 3 minor league seasons appeared in 237 games for Billings, Charleston (WV) and Winston-Salem. He joined the scouting staff after his playing career ended in 1996 and signed the organization’s 2 most recent No. 1 draft picks, OF Jay Bruce in 2005 and OF Drew Stubbs this season
