SI.com: Bailey is better than Hughes

Music to my ears...

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....maddux/1.html

"Yankees right-handed pitching prospect Phillip Hughes, who pitched in Sunday's Futures game, is drawing raves. But one NL scout said, "Homer Bailey is even better.'' While the Reds prospect, also right-handed, allowed a run in Team USA's victory, he got the win and impressed many by staying in the game even though the thumb on his pitching hand was bleeding extensively, the result of a middle fingernail cutting it as he threw. Dude, cut your nails.

The Reds really need to rethink their minors. Who are the managers and coaches? Are they the best we can do? Pay the best twice what their getting paid now to come here and that money would be well spent IMO.

The problem with that is that the best guys are already under contract other places. You cant just go talk to them and offer them money. That is tampering and you cant do that.

Im just glad its not blisters. Not that they are the end of the world for a pitcher but they can be a nagging "injury" that just seem to pop up at the worst times.

Cut your nails? I know as a pitcher I wanted some solid nail there so I could really dig into the ball with some of my pitches... plus, anyway you can scuff the ball "legally" is a bonus..

Check out the picture of Homer on reds.com..... the picture is located along the scrolling main articles on the front page.....look at the way his hand is turned. Does not look like a fast ball. Ive looked all over the place and cant find the picture anywhere else.
