Two Bright Spots From 2006 Draft

Jordan Smith and Chris Valakia have performed very well this season for Billings and it might be time to see what they can do at Dayton.

Smith has been very good with a 3-1 record 2.49 Era in 9 starts also 0hr 32k's 8bb in 43ip., Smith seems like a Richie Gardner type hopefully he staysd healthy.

Valakia has been outstanding lately in his line is .321 7hr 43rbi's 14 2b's over .900 ops. he has been very good. They were third and sixth round pick.

Re: Two Bright Spots From 2006 Draft

I was a little worried about Valakai when his draft scouting report called him a potential utility guy, but it looks like he's got some legit pop in his bat. I hope he keeps it up and doesn't pull a Rosales on us next season.

Dorn has also been raking pretty nicely so far.

superdude, Rosales is doing much better in Dayton now. His time in Sarasota, he was injured quite often and I think it played a lot on his hitting ability. He was on and off the DL for a 2 1/2 month period of time, and since he has been playing everyday, he is starting to swing the bat well again.

Re: Two Bright Spots From 2006 Draft

Just for kicks...here's how Valakia ranks league wide

5th AB's (168)
1st Runs (40)
1st Hits (54)
2nd 2b's (14)
T3rd HR's (7)
1st RBI (43)
3rd TB (91)
8th OBP (.398)
4th SLUG (.542)
7th AVG (.321)
4th OPS (.940)

Not too shabby...
