Andy Pettitte...what do you think?

I haven't noticed much talk about Pettitte. Is there any idea of what he is thinking? Is he going back to the 'Stros?

He might be too expensive for our own good, based on his past success. I would love to have him, but I'm guessing he would be pricey and might want a longer deal than I would give him because he is winding down. He is 34.

4.20 ERA, 214 ip, 238 h, 178 k - This year
2.39 ERA, 222 ip, 188 h, 171 k - Last year

Re: Andy Pettitte...what do you think?

My early thoughts would be his durability. Sure, he pitched 436 IP in the past two years, but I definitely remember him having DL stints each season. Not to mention that I doubt he'll pitch if Roger Clemens retires. And then there's always the fact that he is 34 and will probably want a king's ransom. Besides that, sure, let's go get him.

If he were 4 years younger, I'd say this is a no brainer.

To think?

I wold guess he stays. HOU isn't shy about throwing money around so they will probably overpay him to stay there. Besides, I'm guessing Clemens' limbo status will give him an advantage in negotiations. Without him, all they have is Oswalt.

Andy didn't do well this year. For the salary he gets, I wouldn't want to see him in a Reds uni.

He went to houston because he is a houston native... he wont be leaving the stros... he'd probably take less money to stay in fact

Quite honestly, I don't think Pettite has a passion to play much more baseball.

And I'd for sure rather not overpay for some old guy like Pettite or Mussina (that's pretty funny, since I'm 10 years their senior, but it's all relative!)

Re: Andy Pettitte...what do you think?

2004 he pitched 83 innings.

For the amount of money it would take to sign him he is unlikely to be a good investment.
