What is your favorite baseball radio/TV call of all-time?
As the title says: What is your favorite baseball radio or television call of all-time? If you can, please post a link of the audio call if it's available...(I understand that most of them probably can't be found for free on the internet.)
My personal favorite is Jack Buck's call of Kirk Gibson's walkoff HR against the A's in the 1988 World Series. I get chills down my back everytime I hear that call. Unbelievable! I don't believe what I just saw! Audio of Kirk Gibson HR (scroll down to OCT. 15, 1988) Last edited by OnBaseMachine; 10-10-2006 at 08:18 PM. |

Re: What is your favorite baseball radio/TV call of all-time?
Russ Hodges calling Bobby Thomson's HR has always been my favorite. The circumstances surrounding how it got recorded are pretty amazing, it's been discussed on here before but it's a great story.
(taken from Wikipedia) Ironically, if not for the generosity of a Dodger fan, this famous moment in sports broadcasting might have been lost. This was in an era before all game broadcasts were recorded. However, in his autobiography, Hodges related how a Brooklyn fan, excited over what appeared to be a certain Dodger victory, hooked up his home tape recorder to his radio. The fan wanted to capture Hodges "crying." Instead, he recorded history; the next day, he called Hodges and said, "You have to have this tape." http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/ex...mson_sound.wav

Two from Marty B. stand out:
"Benzinger backing and calling...and the 1990 world championship belongs to the Cincinnati Reds!" "Tom Browning has just pitched a perfect game!" |

"1-2 the wind and the pitch to Bench, change hit in the air to deep right field, back goes Clemente at the fence...it's gone!!!"
Anybody else remember that one? Anyone remember who said it? (just testin' ya).

I didn't see it if they do. They have special online exhibits for certain records/events/subjects...that's where I found the Hodges audio.

Whatever Marty said when Pete broke the hits record. Can't remember what he said but I remember exactly where I was and the chill that went up my spine.
