Bob Geren new A's manager
from rotoworld:
The Associated Press reports that Bob Geren will be Oakland's next manager. Geren was the favorite right from the start and nothing changed during the interview process. A longtime friend of Billy Beane's, he'll be more willing to go along with the general manager's "suggestions" than an outside candidate might have been. Also, from the sound of things, several of the players will prefer to him the ousted Ken Macha. There hasn't been any word yet on how long of a contract he'll get.

Former Red. Technically. For four months in the off-season.

Another weak-hitting former catcher strikes managerial gold.

Re: Bob Geren new A's manager
another ex major league catcher getting the nod...Dare I ask, will Eddie Taubansee, Joe Oliver, or Jeff Reed be a manager one day???? Lloyd Mclendon, former catcher for the reds, already got his shot with Pittsburg..

Wasn't Bob Geren the other anchor with Mary Hart on Entertainment Tonight?

Re: Bob Geren new A's manager
Good news for Dann Bilardello and Dave Van Gorder, as they move up a slot on GMs' speed dial.

Don't forget Bill Plummer. He was manager of the Mariners for a short time.

Re: Bob Geren new A's manager
Not a single manager is a former pitcher...
Edit: Well, until now thanks to Bud Black.
